著者のことを何も知らずにある書物を請求し、その著者の伝記情報を調べたら、強制収容所で死亡したことが分かったという経験は、生まれてはじめてである。私はもちろん戦後生まれだけれども、とてもシンボリックな経験だった。一言でいうと、とうとう「自分の時代」の歴史を研究しているんだという思いがした。身が引き締まった。
